Future Bees is a non-profit fund at the University of Western Australia with the aim to safeguard bees, secure future human food production and ecosystem stability.
We are creating a network that maintains and protects bee populations by partnering with research organisations, industry beekeepers and outreach organisers. With your help we have the opportunity to minimise current and future threats to bee populations.
The international research team at the Centre for Integrative Bee Research (CIBER), along with partners including the Australian bee industry and international collaborators, aims to intensify research into honeybee reproduction, immunity and ecology. The goal is to better understand honeybees to spare Australia from the dramatic losses encountered everywhere else in the world.
The Future Bees Fund supports activities that facilitate and encourage commercial and non-commercial beekeeping. This includes educating and training new apiarists to increase beekeeping skills and knowledge on a broad scale. Future Bees can support beekeepers during hardship by securing a sufficient number of managed bee colonies.
In addition to working with CIBER at the University of Western Australia, The Future Bees Fund conducts outreach activities in the local community.
